Joshua Kutuny has dismissed speculations that his perceived strained relationship with Deputy President William Ruto is personal, insisting that he has a problem with his silence over maize farmers debacle.
At an interview with KTN on Wednesday, Kutuny blamed DP Ruto for 'doing little' to salvage maize farmers, whom he says have been subjected to unfair treatment by the government.
“The DP has never talked about the plight of maize farmers. He cannot escape blame since he holds the position at the behest of the people and he even sits in Cabinet. He should work with the leadership to come up with solutions on problems afflicting our people,” he said.
“Ruto has never convened a single meeting to address the issues affecting his own people. What I am only doing is putting him on toes and asking him to be sensitive to the predicament affecting the country."
Farmers from North Rift have blamed the government for delayed payments even after President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri to ensure the payments are settled.
MPs Silae Tiren (Moiben), Joshua Kutuny (Cherangany) and Alfred Keter of Nandi Hills have often accused Ruto of advancing his selfish interests at the expense of farmers, a claim which the DP has often denied.
In response, DP Ruto's team led by Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, have often accused the three of being used by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to undermine the DP ahead of 2022 polls.
