A middle-aged man from Nyabigege area has left villagers in shock after committing suicide after his wife left him for another man.
Steven Okiomeri, 27, was found hanging on an avocado tree outside his house on Saturday morning.
Before taking his own life, Okiomeri left a note on his table saying that he had tried his best to reunite with his wife but all was in vain as she turned him down several times, saying she had already moved on and was comfortable living with the other man.
“I know many won’t believe it but I decided to take my own life due to the recent frustrations I have been receiving from my wife who left with my child to be married to another man known as Edwin Okong’o. I see no need of living in this crazy world,” read the note.
Confirming the incident, area Chief Richard Mokandu said Okiomeri's family was aware that his wife had left him for another man, but they had advised him to also move on and find another wife.
“We are in shock that the man took his own life and we have already informed the police about the incident and they are at the scene. They will soon take the body to the morgue,” said Mokandu.
