The second term county boss said that misuse of public resources is among the reasons why the country has continued to lag behind in terms of development.

Speaking during the ongoing conference on universal health care in Kisumu County,  Mutua noted that the country has many resources that can be used to transform the economy but selfish leaders have taken advantage of their positions to swindle what belongs to the taxpayer.

Mutua, who doubles up as Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement leader, noted that the time has come for Kenyans to elect leaders with the right leadership qualities if they want to realise some changes in governance.

“We are not poor in Kenya because of lack of resources but because the choices of leaders we make expose us to graft, lethargy and hence more poverty,” he said.

The governor, who has hinted at contesting for the nation’s top seat in 2022, also said that Kenyans must unite for the common good of the society if they want to realise development in the coming years.

The county boss remains optimistic he is the right man to occupy State House come 2022.
