Yes I know you are surprised at this question but it is the reality of what goes on at Jerusalem Church of Christ found in Nairobi's Kawangware 56 area.

At this church led by Prophetess Mary Akatsa, worshippers dance 'with' corpses before they are interred.

It sounds strange but to Akatsa and Jerusalem believers it is normal to show their respects to the dead by making them happy.

According to Akatsa, they dance with corpses before burying them as a sign to prepare them for the next world.

She says that dancing with the dead makes them happy and prevents their spirits from hunting those left behind.

"Death is not the end of life that is why we celebrate the dead by carrying them around and dancing with them before burying them," she notes.

"Dead people are still part of us. It is only that they are called first and we celebrate because their calling is by the Most High to prepare for the second coming," she adds.

In most cases, worshippers will carry the dead person's caskets and jubilantly dance with them.

Before burying the dead, Akatsa ensures that they are well dressed and blesses them as they go back to their maker.

"It is a routine for us and we don't fear dancing with corpses, a worshipper who sought to remain anonymous said.

Akatsa's church is known for its strictness when it comes to matters of worship.

It is at this church where worshippers are punished if they report to church late.

Akatsa does not entertain latecomers and often locks the church's gate once time for worshippers to assemble lapses.
