While a section of Nyanza leaders was attending the founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's 25th death anniversary memorial service on Sunday, a powerful Cabinet Secretary was arriving in Kisumu ahead of a major stakeholder's meeting.
Tourism and Wildlife CS Najib Balala on Sunday landed in the lakeside city for the regional tourism stakeholders forum set for today (Monday).
He was received at the Kisumu International Airport by among others, Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo and Luo traditional dancers.
Also present was Kisumu West lawmaker Olago Aluoch who is however of the Ford Kenya party led by Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.
In a tweet after landing, the CS expressed his gratitude for the reception he received at the airport ahead of the major event.
"Thank you Kisumu County and Otiende Amollo for the great reception ahead of the regional tourism stakeholders forum #SpiritOfKisumu magical Kenya, Joe Okudo, Tembea Kenya," he tweeted.
This came as most regional leaders attended the Jaramogi memorial function at the St Stephens Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) church to honour the former opposition figure.
Balala's visit follows recent allegations that he is being investigated over a tender fraud worth Ksh100 million allegedly allocated to a firm without following the right procedure.
