Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has hailed the arrest of the Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala saying that it was long overdue.
The legislator in a tweet noted that "the arrests of Senator Malala and MCA Oduor was long overdue and quite commendable. It is unexplainable how representatives of the people can turn villain against innocent and harmless voters and brutally take away their lives."
Senator Malala was arrested by DCI detectives on Friday in Kisumu in connection with Matungu killings in Kakamega County.
Senator Malala was arrested alongside former Sports CS Rashid Echesa. The two have been accused of incitement and terror youth groups in the county.
On Friday morning, a Kakamega MCA Libinus Oduor of Mayoni Ward was arrested by police over incitement allegations in Matungu sub-county.
Their arrest comes days after Interior CS Fred Matiang'i toured the area and vowed to bring all culprits to book.
Matiang'i said the law will not spare any leader who is culpable of funding the youth groups to unleash terror to Matungu residents.
