Besides the heartly exchanges on 'Mulmulwas phrase', President Uhuru Kenyatta promised to visit West Pokot County in the coming month, just days after the anticipated trip of First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
At Kabarak on Monday, the renowned professor of pure math jointly visited retired President Daniel Moi with President Uhuru Kenyatta. The two condoled with the former Head of State over the death of his son Jonathan Moi.
On his Facebook page, Prof Longanyapuo revealed President Uhuru Kenyatta's promise, which would be the first one since his re-election in 2017. Uhuru has however visited neighbouring Turkana.
"I was also privileged to meet HE President Uhuru Kenyatta who was in Kabarak too, to convey his condolences to Mzee Moi. During our discussion, he promised to visit West Pokot after First Lady Margaret Kenyatta's medical tour early next month.
"At one moment, we had a hearty laughter when the president joked about Mulmulwas phrase.The Beyond Zero Medical Safari will conduct surgeries on Fistula patients, eye management surgeries, assess children living with disabilities and NHIF Enrolment," added Longanyapuo
Last month, three deaths were reported in West Pokot County even as the government through Deputy President William Ruto refused to acknowledge. A similar situation was witnessed in the neighbouring Baringo and Turkana Counties.
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is among several philanthropists who pitched tent in the county to offer humanitarian help. The government has since dispatched food items to the region through Devolution Ministry.
