One does not need a microscope to spot the political war that is looming between Deputy President William Ruto and former premier Raila Odinga.
Confidants of the two leaders have been involved in the exchange of words recently.
But, what is the source of this entire political circus?
Kapseret lawmaker Oscar Sudi has openly expressed his worries about the manner in which President Uhuru Kenyatta is silent about the Ruto-Raila feud and hit out at the DCI boss George Kinoti for taking sides in the war against graft.
Soy’s Caleb Kositany has also come out to defend the DP saying some politicians are taking advantage of the handshake to spoil the Jubilee party and interfere with the DP’s march to the statehouse in 2022.
A number of North Rift politicians allied to the DP have frequently hit out at opposition chief Raila Odinga for bringing confusion in the ruling party and in the government as a whole.
The main reason could be they are worried that Raila can convince president Uhuru so as to form a political union ahead of the 2022 presidential polls.
Besides, the DP’s camp is aware of Raila’s push for a referendum that will provide room for the creation of more government positions including that one of the Prime Minister.
That is something that the DP’s camp has openly dismissed as fraud meant to create posts for only a few greedy Kenyans.
And so, with the Uhuru-Raila friendship growing well day in day out, that leaves butterflies in the stomachs of the DP’s ardent supporters back in his home turf.
They really do not want the friendship to grow well since they feel that the former premier might capitalize on it to bring down the DP.
They also have expressed worries on how Raila is influencing the government on the fight against graft.
