A lengthy statement recorded by the embattled governor indicates that he was at Ida's Karen home at the time Sharon Otieno was murdered.

"After a meeting with Evans Ondieki at Lavington Mall, I drove to Karen where I met Her. Excellency Ida Odinga.

"We had something to discuss and it took us several hours. Thereafter, I drove to my home for a rest," read Obado's statement.

However, police have relied heavily of evidence given by taxi driver Jackson Gombe and phone data which indicates that Mr. Obado was at the murder scene.

As he waits bail application ruling by Justice Jessie Lessit on October 24th, Obado could also be forced to line up witnesses to defend his position.

As such, Mrs. Odinga's testimony, assuming that she agrees to testify, could prove significant to Mr. Obado, who maintains that he's being unfairly dragged to the matter.

DPP Noordin Haji insisted that he has substantive evidence that could warrant death sentence for ODM governor, who is being remanded at Industrial Area prison.

Mrs. Odinga comes from Obado's Migori home turf and she's said to have been instrumental to the decision by ODM to award Obado ticket in 2017 elections at the expense of Ochillo Ayacko, who was elected senator last week.
