Kisii County politicians have been asked to stop dragging Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i's name into politics.
Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa speaking on Thursday during the laying of the foundation stone for the Kisii County Banana Factory warned local politicians against using Matiang'i's name to gain political mileage.
According to Wamalwa, Kisii politicians should stand firm, support and defend Matiang'i.
"I'm urging local leaders to stop calling Matiang'i names but support him. Matiang'i is not only representing the Gusii community but also the whole country," he said.
Wamalwa reiterated Matiang'i's commitment to ensure all Cabinet Secretaries are performing towards the realization of President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big 4 Agenda.
He wondered why a section of politicians from the region are dragging Matiang'i's name into politics instead of giving him humble time to discharge duties in government.
"People should stop using Matiang'i's name to chase fame in politics and seek relevance in the community's politics. He (Matiang'i) need support from local leaders for him to discharge duties without fear or favor," said Wamalwa.
The Cs expressed his satisfaction with Governor James Ongwae's leadership adding that residents should use modern methods of farming to boost produce.
