Orange Democratic Movement party will relocate to Lavington end month after over 10 years at Kilimani in Nairobi, chairman John Mbadi has confirmed.
The ODM party took over the famous Kilimani crescent house and has used it for political meetings and strategy in the last decade.
On Wednesday, Mbadi said the Raila Odinga-led party will shift end month as part of the rebranding strategy, just 36 months to next polls.
“There are a few renovations pending. We are set to move in the next one or two weeks,” Mr Mbadi said.
There were reports last year that former aide to Raila Odinga, Mr Caroli Omondi, refused to extend the lease for ODM at Kilimani following their disagreements.
Mr Omondi fell out with ODM and Raila in 2017 after losing in ODM primaries at Suba South. He accused John Mbadi of rigging him out.
In June last year, ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen refuted claims that the party was being kicked out of the property.
“We wish to confirm that the tenancy of our national secretariat at Orange House will come to its end on December 31, 2018 and by mutual consent between the landlord and tenant, we have agreed not to renew it,” Mr Ong’wen said.
