Salmonella infection is caused by a number of factors ranging from drinking contaminated water, eating foods that have not been cooked properly, not washing your hands before eating among others.

1. Vomiting
This symptom is not unique to salmonella infection and could mean that you are suffering from other diseases like cholera, typhoid and other waterborne diseases.
In some cases, it could indicate that the salmonella bacteria is growing in your intestinal tract. Don't ignore this symptom, seek medical attention.
2. Headaches
Headaches are common but one that prolongs should raise your eyebrows. When you realise that your headaches are persistent it is important to go for testing. The salmonella bacteria could be the reason why you are experiencing them.
3. Fever
A higher than normal body temperature can be an evident sign that you suffering from salmonella infection. See a doctor before the situation gets serious.
4. Abdominal cramps
Some may think this is caused by fatigue which is not always the case. Abdominal cramps have been linked to salmonella infection.
Other symptoms and signs include blood in the stool, diarrhoea, chills and nausea.
