Speaking on Tuesday, the lawmaker noted that there is nothing wrong with the country having debts, as long as is is not misused and not wasted in things like corruption.

He also stressed on the need for the nation to deal with tax evasion, to make it easy to collect money to be channelled towards loan repayment.

"There is no problem with us having debts as a country, all we need to do is fight things like corruption and tax evasion," he said in an interview on K24 on Tuesday morning.

Ouda's remarks are similar to those of his fellow ODM lawmakers, who have now changed tune on Uhuru's management of the country, despite initially questioning the loans.

Commenting on the national examinations which commenced today (Tuesday), Ouda faulted the government for paying too much attention to the exams.

Currently, top State officials have been deployed across the country to supervise the exams, amid promises from the Interior and Education ministries that the exercise will be credible.

Ouda, however, is of the opinion that the government only needs to instil morals in students so as to avoid worrying about the possible theft of exams.

"We don’t need to bring the world to a standstill during exams, all we need to do is instil morals to our students," he added.
