Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has asked Deputy President William Ruto to record a statement on his alleged assassination.
Speaking on Monday during an interview on Citizen TV, Karua said that Ruto cannot afford to make such claims when he is not ready to record a statement with the office of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
She noted that the matter needs probe with immediate effect.
“Individuals (whether in gov’t or not) go with their character and there are people who can plot against others. What is shocking is to have allegations made without any foundation,” she said.
Karua also said that Cabinet Secretaries have the right to meet on matters of national interest. She dismissed claims that when Cabinet Secretaries from a specific locality meet they could be plotting something sinister.
“Cabinet meetings and sub-committees of the cabinet are planned within the cabinet. There is absolutely nothing wrong with people holding a caucus; the excuse they give for that caucus is their business,” she added.
The DCI has, however, termed the assassination letter as fake and moved in to rein in on persons behind the letter.
