The William Ruto-effect at the coast region seems to be at a shaking end as coast MPs hint to take a u-turn and dance a new political tune for the 2022 presidential contest.
The MPs who have been recently drumming up support for the deputy president's presidential quest, have hinted to slow down the tune to throw their weight in support of Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi for the top seat come 2022.
Magarini MP Michael Kingi, who is a younger brother to the Kilifi governor, said at Gongoni in Magarini sub-county that plans by coast leaders to push for Kingi’s presidential bid are in control.
The MP said, “governor Kingi is the only politician from this region who is performing well. We will sacrifice ourselves and rally the coast region to endorse Kingi as a presidential candidate in 2022 for his political and developmental record is outstanding.”
Speaking over the weekend, Kingi said “efforts to engage leaders from all corners of the country in support of the governor’s candidature have already started, and the outcome is pleasing.”
