Kiambu County has received a boost in its fight against alcoholism following the launch of a church which conducts rehabilitation for alcoholics and drug addicts.
Worldwide Missions Center church has been transforming lives by offering counselling services to members struggling with drug addiction.
Led by Pastor Geoffrey Macharia, the church has been carrying out the rehabilitation programme for six months, Tuko has reported.
The church, which is based in Gachie, holds weekly services as well as counselling services on Tuesdays.
The church not only rehabilitates criminals and addicts but also helps them by providing basic needs like food, clothing, as well as trainings on different skills.
The church also provides job opportunities for members who are determined to transform their lives.
Reformed members of the church such as Onesmus Njoroge who quit drinking 15 years ago provide counselling services to the addicts, with the aim of guiding them to change their ways.
One of the ministers at the church, Pastor Frank Maina, got saved in prison after being sentenced to death. Pastor Maina now volunteers at the church by offering free counselling services to members.
Pastor Macharia is now appealing for support to help the church expand to other counties in a bid to transform more lives.
He revealed that the church has registered a community-based organization known as 'It can be done’ whose main objective is to transform the lives of members by connecting them to their destinies.
