Gor Mahia's away poor run in continental outings continued, after narrowly succumbing to a 2 - 1 defeat to Petro de Luanda in a CAF confederation cup Group D match played on Wednesday night at the Estadio 11 de Novembro, Luanda, Angola.

The loss means Gor has only managed one victory from the nine matches while on the road in the continental outing.

Gor, without its five key players, failed to build on Zamalek's win despite giving Petro a run for their money.

Manguxi opened the scoring for Petro on the 13th minute with a cracking shot from outside the edge of the box as a hapless Boniface Oluoch could do nothing to stop the ball from shaking his net.

Ricardo Estevao should have added a second but his rebound went wide with an empty net staring at him on the hour mark. Seven minutes later, Toni beat his marker before notching home a second for the hosts from Mateu's cross.

With the absence of injured Dennis Oliech and suspended Jacques Tuyisenge, Gor lacked the cutting edge up front in the second half as the search for an equalizer proved elusive despite Lawrence Juma and George Odhiambo's concerted efforts.

Substitute Nicholas Kipkurui pulled back a consolation for Gor with a looping header thanks to Kenneth Kenneth Muguna's good work in the 92nd minute.

Algeria's NA Hussein top Group D with 4 points after holding Zamalek to a 1 - 1 draw.

Gor Mahia are second with 3 points and on level with Petro albeit, K'ogalo have a superior goal difference.

Zamalek are rooted in the bottom with one point.

Gor Mahia will play NA Hussein in Nairobi on 24th this month.
