An armed gang on Wednesday stormed a village in Magwagwa and robbed funeral committee Sh40,000.
Confirming the incident, area chief, Erick Manwaye, said the money was to cater for funeral expenses of a deceased person.
“The funeral committee had convened a meeting to deliberate how to use the money before armed gang stormed ,” said the chief.
Manwaye said the money had been contributed by locals in the fund drive which was held on Wednesday.
The administrator said the thugs made away with Sh40,000 leaving the funeral committee stranded in the room.
He said the suspects are being traced to be arrested. The body of the deceased, Emily Kemunto, was expected to be collected from mortuary on Thursday for burial today, Friday.
“We have agreed to postpone the burial because we have no money to pay at the mortuary and buy a coffin after the thugs stole Sh40,000 from the funeral committee,” he said.
