A Ford Kenya legilator had threatened to resign from parliament over the increasing cases of insecurity at his jurisdiction.
West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi, a close ally of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, said the cases have escalated in the recent past with police doing little to prosecute those responsible.
In a candid message directed to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, Kemosi demanded transfer of a number of police officers from the region due to laxity.
"My constituents are butchered daily but nothing concrete has been done. We have reported these matters yet nobody is interested. I am ready to resign any time if this can't be handled.
"But before I go, the Interior Minister must transfer these lazy police officers around. They have been allowing criminals to terrorize my people," he said.
According to him, three people have died under unclear circumstances this month but the police have failed to take action despite locals giving clues.
County Commissioner Amos Mariba recently said his team will not spare criminals, adding that they have been empowered to restore order.
"We have enough manpower so we shall do our job. Nyamira cannot be a hub of criminals. I urge them to surrender before we catch up with them," he said.
