The family of slain Rongo University Sharon Otieno is now seeking 3.5 million shillings to cater for her burial.
The family has said that it needs 1.3 million shillings for the burial, with the extra funds set to care for and educate the three children she has left behind.
Speaking Thursday, Sharon's mother Melida Auma expressed her worries regarding the future of the children, thus the family's decision to act with speed to raise the funds.
"Sharon left the children at a very tender age and it is going to be hard for me to educate them well,” she was said.
Sharon has left behind three children, with the oldest one aged five and the others three and one and a half years.
The younger ones are yet to begin their education.
Melida added that Sharon's killing remains fresh in her mind, considering that she was her eldest daughter, roughly over a month after her demise.
"I am yet to come to terms with the loss and still wondering how I will take care of the three children she left behind,” she is further quoted.
Sharon was found dead in a thicket near Oyugis Town in Homabay County early last month.
This followed her reported abduction outside Graca Hotel in Rongo, Migori County.
Migori Governor Okoth Obado has since been arrested and is being held over the murder after he admitted to having been in a relationship with her and fathering her unborn baby.
Also in custody over the same is Obado's aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero.
