Political analyst and lawyer Steve Ogolla has hit out at Deputy President William Ruto over his recent remarks on ethnicity.
Ogolla decried a growing tendency by politicians to campaign on a lie noting that it was evident ethnicity played part in the 2017 general polls.
He spoke moments after DP Ruto's response to an article where Kirinyaga Governor was quoted saying that Mt Kenya region is not ready for another Kikuyu President.
''We supported and voted for Uhuru to succeed Kibaki not b'cos of ethnicity but COMPETENCE. He is NOT leader of any ethnic community but that of JUBILEE, the largest political party with Mca's, Mps and Gov's in 41 of 47counties and President of kenya. Muwache kasumba ya ukabila pls (sic),'' tweeted DP Ruto.
In response Ogolla tweeted; ''Stop lying to Kenyans. Last election was a pure ethnic arrangement. It is such kind of brazen lies that make it difficult for Kenyans to have an honest conversation about how NOT to elect leaders.''
