Mr Bernard Osumo, who is among close confidants of the governor, is accused of irregularly employing one of his sons in the county government thus the plans to ouster him.

An insider within the assembly said the notice has been issued and the motion would be introduced in Tuesday's sitting by the movers in absence of Speaker Moffat Teya.

"A notice has been issued. It's now in the order paper. If the mover doesn't change his mind, then the minister will be discussed in the house this afternoon," said the official, without giving more details.

Sources say that Mr Osumo would have to clear misconduct and abuse of office claims. This is the second time an impeachment motion would be tabled in the assembly since 2013.

In an phone interview with Speaker Moffat Teya, the assembly boss said on Monday that he would only comment once he sees the motion by himself.

"I don't know about it. Am also hearing such claims but I will only be in a position to speak once I see him. It's such a sensitive issue that I cannot comment without facts," he said.

Apparently, the motion would come barely a week after Governor John Nyagarama instructed Osumo, the minister in charge of public service, to over see payroll purge. Some quarters claim that a section of leaders are afraid of payroll purge.
