Governor Ali Hassan Joho of Mombasa on Thursday held a consultative meeting with a delegation from the World Bank Group led by the Country manager, International Finance Corporation Manuel Moses.
The discussion centered on the expansion of the automation of Mombasa County Government’s business processes to include more modules from different sectors so as to further improve service delivery to the residents of Mombasa.
Flanked by his deputy, Dr. William Kingi and other County officials, Joho said this will lead to the success of the e-Single Business and e-Construction Permitting Systems.
"We have agreed to further expand the automation to include more services from health, lands, trade, transport and infrastructure and finance sectors to enhance efficiency, transparency, accountability and more importantly eradication of corruption in provision of all our services," disclosed Joho.
On his part, Kingi said technology has exponentially revolutionised how the people live and work hence the need to maximise the economic gains by endeavouring to develop systems that are adaptive to the prevailing technological circumstances.
The DG disclosed that the county government of Mombasa has made great steps in harnessing data management to support new pathways to development.
"We have since developed an e-single business and e-construction permit systems to facilitate easy access to government services and to maximise revenue collected from such services."
"We believe that with this partnership with the World Bank and the IFC we shall be able to devolve this automation further to other government services," he added.
Kingi indicated that the county government of Mombasa will take advantage of the current surge in the use of smart phones and internet to build new drivers of economic growth.
