When someone is suffering from depression it is not possible for him/her to enjoy life the way they used to.
Depression changes the way someone thinks, functions, and feels every day. It will affect the manner in which someone studies, how they work and even eats.
A depressed person is in need of assistance. However, you can only assist someone if you know they are depressed.
Here are some signs of depression in an individual.
1. Interest loss
A depressed person tends to lose interest in various things. Loss of concern on social activities, hobbies, and daily chores is common in depressed individuals.
2. Weight or appetite gain/loss
The change could be positive or negative i.e. someone could lose weight or gain weight. Some people tend to eat more when they are stressed while others will experience a loss of appetite which leads to weight loss.
3. Sleep pattern changes
A depressed person might suffer from the inability to sleep or might begin sleeping for long hours. They will either wake up very early in the morning or spend most of their day sleeping.
4. Feeling hopeless and helpless
Depression makes an individual feel that nothing will ever change and there is nothing he/she can do to improve on the same.
5. Anger
When someone is depressed he/she tends to get agitated and violent easily. The individual will have a short temper and low tolerance levels. They tend to be irritated by almost everyone.
6. Energy loss
Someone who is depressed will in most cases feel physically drained, sluggish, and fatigued. The person will be unable to do even the simplest tasks or will need a lot of time to complete the task.
