The two met and sat close to each other during the Requiem mass for Mzee Samuel Mbova at St Austin Catholic church in Nairobi.

Governor Mutua and Muthama who have not been seeing eye to eye were captured conversing as the requiem mass went on.

The two leaders engaged in a conversation and now speculations are rife that they could be planning to reconcile after years of political differences.

Though it is not clear what the two leaders talked about, there are indications that they could be planning a surprise truce.

Confidential sources close to Governor Mutua say that the Machakos boss is keen on reconciling with other Kamba politicians as he pushes his 2022 presidential ambition.

"The Governor is keen on reconciling with his political enemies in the coming days and people will be surprised," the source said.

Governor Mutua and Muthama fell out after the 2013 general election.

The two leaders have often engaged in ugly public spats with Mutama often accusing Governor Mutua of allegedly 'sleeping' on his job.

Muthama failed to contest for any political seat in Machakos in 2017 general election because the Maendeleo chap chap Governor was seeking re-election.

Governor Mutua on the other hand has often castigated the former senator saying he is among Kamba politicians who are enemies of progress.

However in the recent days, Muthama seems to be developing a soft spot for Governor Mutua and has been quoted saying that Mutua will win in case a by-election is conducted in Machakos.

Muthama who is opposed to the Wiper party's Wavinya Ndeti and Peter Mathuki line up wants the former EALA MP dropped and former Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala picked as Ndeti's running mate in case of by election in Machakos.
