Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi has said that ladies should focus on getting boyfriends who are within their means.
Speaking on Tuesday to Citizen TV during the morning show, the speaker expressed her concerns over the recent killings witnessed in the country.
In less than two weeks, cases of boys attacking their girlfriends have been reported more than once, with most heartbreaking one being the killing of Ivy Wangeci, a 6th-year medical student at the Moi University.
Ivy was brutally killed by her alleged lover Neftali Kinuthia, who travelled from Nairobi to Eldoret before killing her. He used an axe and a knife to commit the crime.
In another case, a third-year Pwani University student taking a bachelors' degree in Public Health was stabbed several times in a similar version like that of deceased Wangeci, fortunately, she was rescued and later taken to Kilifi Referral Hospital where she is nursing injuries.
Responding to the disturbing crime cases, Beatrice Elachi said men should allow ladies to move on with their life if they say no.
"Ladies should get boyfriends who are within their means and men should stop being obsessed and accept when a lady wants to move on with her life," she said while speaking to Citizen.
Perpetrators of the two crimes are facing charges in court.
