A 27-year-old man was forced to run for his dear life after he was caught red handed defiling a minor. The incident happened on Tuesday evening at Bonyaiguba village in Nyamaiya, Kisii County.
Confirming the incident, area assistant chief Kennedy Osoti said the suspect Douglas Ochenge lured the 5-year-old minor into his house with a slice of bread.
"Ochenge divorced his wife 3 months ago. He gave the minor a slice of bread before he lured her into his house where he was cuaght red handed raping her by a neighbor who heard the minor screaming for help," he said.
The chief said the suspect managed to escape into a neighboring maize farm when an alarm was raised.
He said the victim was rushed to a local dispensary for treatment.
"The minor's private parts were damaged during the ordeal. She was treated at a local dispensary. Members of the public should report the suspect to police whenever they will spot him in the village," said Osoti.
Mr Osoti warned men against taking advantage of young girls to rape them saying the law will not spare men who turns to be 'hyenas'.
