A man is nursing serious injuries at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Refferal Hospital in Kisumu after a friend reportedly attacked him.
25-year-old Jacob Owino was reportedly attacked and hacked by a machete by his friend Leonard Omenya who accused him of misleading him into placing an unsuccessful sports bet.
According to Nyawara Location chief Barrack Oloo, an angry Omenya stormed Owino's home with a whip and panga before assaulting and hacking him with a panga, reports the Citizen Digital.
Omenya had earlier reportedly approached Oloo to guide him in placing a bet on one of the nation's leading online betting sites, a gamble that would however fail.
The suspect reportedly placed his Sh8, 100 on the line hoping to get a whooping 49, 000 shilling yield, but the bet flopped, leaving him disappointed and irate.
This was a day after the victim allegedly guided another resident into placing a bet that yielded heavy returns, after the neighbour won Sh1.5 million the previous week.
After the incident, the suspect reportedly matched the bleeding victim to the Chief's office, before the authorities took over the case and rushed him to hospital.
The suspect was on the other hand apprehended and is currently being held at the Yala Police Station pending his arraignment in court.
