University of Eldoret and Moi University soccer ladies qualified to represent the region in a highly contested Kenya Universities Sports Association, KUSA, held at the University of Eldoret over the weekend.
Following the absence of other teams like Egerton University, it forced the only four present ladies teams to play, round robin, where all the teams had to play each other to determine the winner.
The University of Eldoret finished as the regional champions with a total of seven points. They got their first win against their runners up Moi University main campus in the opener, they were later held to a goalless draw in the second game by Moi University West Campus.
UOE, however, got their direct ticket to represent the region in their last game where they beat Laikipia University 4-0.
Moi University on the other side finished as runners up with only one point behind the Champions, UOE. They began the competition with a one-nil defeat but went on to gather more wins, later beating Moi University West Campus one-nil in the final game after having beaten Laikipia University 3-0 in the second game.
Moi West campus finished third with two points having gotten two goalless draws from Laikipia University and UOE respectively.
Speaking after the competition, Coach Joshua Ariko appreciated the team's efforts and promised to ensure the team improves on their achievements.
The national KUSA games will be played at the United States International University, USIU, this April where the two teams will represent the region.
The national winners will represent the nation in the East Africa Universities Championship Venue to be communicated at USIU.
