Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has celebrated the ongoing troubles of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko who is currently being probed by two state institutions.
The governor on Thursday was grilled by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) over questionable payments to 13 companies to manage garbage in the county.
He is also being probed by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) over tax issues, which the Senator on Saturday celebrated, expressing his joy that he is in trouble.
The senator who was recently involved in a bitter exchange with the governor claimed that monies have been lost under Sonko's leadership and he needs to explain the same to Kenyans.
He claimed to have always known something was amiss and that the law would soon catch up with the flamboyant county boss, who on Thursday vowed to leave office if implicated.
"I told Sonko to tell Kenyans where billions of shillings are. I told you, and now its happening (Niliambia Sonko kwanza aambie watu mabilioni zilienda wapi. Niliwaambia, sasa si munaona)," Mwaura said Saturday, on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show, where he also called upon the governor to leave office, accusing him of poor leadership qualities.
The senator also bashed the governor for being intolerant and fighting his critics, claiming that his summoning at the EACC is proof that he might have been involved in a questionable deal.
"Let him leave at once. You cannot run Nairobi like your house and insulting all your critics. (Aondoke mara moja, huwezi run Nairobi kama ni kwako na kila mtu anakucriticize unamtupia matusi)," he added.
