Sossion on Monday directed 110 executive secretaries from various parts of the country to meet to discuss the new curriculum before its adoption in schools.

The change in tune comes after KNUT had threatened to direct all teachers not to report to their work stations until the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and Ministry of Education responded to their plight.

According to Sossion, incorporating the teachers in the talks will enable them to articulate their issues of concern as far as the new curriculum is concerned.

The Knut boss said that the curriculum, which is expected to be rolled out in Pre-Primary 1 to Grade 3, is a subject teachers cannot be blocked from if it has to bear fruits at the end of the day.

He also said that the teachers are ready to cooperate whenever they are needed for the sake of school-going children in the nation.

“We will be in those forums to tell the country that the new curriculum is not working unless we follow the right procedures,” said Sossion, as quoted by Daily Nation.

The remarks come after Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha launched the exercise in Nakuru on Monday.

Magoha has remained confident that the teachers will offer him the necessary support as he rolls out the program.
