Earlier, Raila dressed in a navy blue suit when he stepped out to receive Uhuru, who landed in Kenya Air Force helicopters, not far away from Raila's house.

And after formally ushering the president in, Mr Odinga would later emerge on a white top, also resembling that of his elder brother Dr Oburu Oginga.

The three, in the company of Ida Odinga along with few family members of the Odinga's, then visited Oginga Odinga's grave where Uhuru got an opportunity for the first time to lay a wreath since Jaramogi's death.

Afterwards, they also laid a wreath at Fidel Odinga's grave where they were joined by flamboyant businessman Don Bosco Gichana, a close friend of Fidel, who never attended the funeral due to his incarceration at a Tanzanian prison.

Mr Odinga, now in white with his guests, visited Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology where they were awarded honorary doctorate degrees along with Uhuru.

The two protagonists addressed a rally at Ugunja town which marked the culmination of the president's two days visit to Luo Nyanza, a region that is a bedrock of Kenya's opposition politics since Independence.

The white attire could have symbolically used to represent peace, which is being advocated by the two leaders since their surprise truce in March this year.
