Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has advised Deputy President William Ruto to intervene and calm down his loyalists to cushion Jubilee Party from collapsing.
Khalwale who was speaking on Citizen TV during the power breakfast show on Thursday said it is upon the DP to call his loyal leaders, especially from Rift Valley to order for the party to remain firm ahead of 2022.
"The Deputy President should ask his troops to back down," he said during the show.
"He should ask the President to throw in a good statement for him so that people are not confused by the rumours and narrative that there is a split in Jubilee."
The former Ikolomani MP made the remarks less than a week after the party called off a planned meeting at State House in which President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto were to address Jubilee allied MPs with clear instructions that they should desist from wrangling lest the party cracks and disintegrates.
MPs from across the country who support Ruto's bid to succeed Uhuru at State House in 2022 have been at loggerheads with leaders out to block Ruto's presidential bid in four years to come.
Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe has been categorical that Ruto will have to go it alone in 2022 as he does not have guaranteed support from Central Kenya.
