A man and his wife are currently in custody in Nyamira County for allegedly aiding the raping and killing of a widow.
The deceased Doris Kemunto was raped and her body dumped 100 meters away from her house one week ago.
Area assistant chief Eric Ondere said the suspects Emmanuel Kabinga and Beatrice Nyaboke were nabbed on Friday evening after it emerged that they had issued threats to Kemunto.
"The couple threatened to kill the deceased over a land boundary. It seems living true by threats they hired goons who raped Kemunto and strangled her to death," he said.
Mr Ondere said Kemunto's private parts were cut by the killers.
"The late's genitals were cut and the suspects might have used a machete. The suspects must produce the killers," he noted.
The administrator lauded residents for being calm since the incident happened.
"I am happy that locals didn't carry the law into their hands to lynch the suspects. It is high time the suspects to face the full force of the law," he added.
He regretted that cases of land disputes are at the peak and urged elders to step up efforts in solving land related disagreements to curb unnecessary deaths.
