Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa risks losing her parliamentary seat if she does not act swiftly.
The MP can appeal ODM’s decision at the Political Parties Dispute’s Tribunal. This is her only hope as she prepares for a possible by-election.
The party’s National Executive Council (NEC) decision to expel Jumwa was ratified by ODM’s National Governing Council (NGC).
In a meeting held Friday in Karen, ODM chose to expel the Malindi MP for supporting Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
“Party NGC unanimously votes to expel Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa from he party. The meeting however deferred the decision her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori following his letter of apology to the SG @edwinsifuna in which he apologised to the party for his rebellion,” read ODM's tweet.
Her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori was given two months to prepare his defense against expulsion after handing in an apology letter to party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.
