Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has opened up on his upbringing under his father and retired President Daniel Moi, terming himself a staunch Christian brought up in the church.
Speaking at Runogone Methodist Church in Imenti North, Meru county on Sunday, the KANU boss revealed that he is not attached to a specific church, but goes to any.
This likens him to Deputy President William Ruto who is also known for his church tours across the nation, but ironically, the two are sworn political enemies.
Speaking while in the company of opposition and members of the Jubilee Party opposed to the DP, he added that he will continue contributing towards church functions.
“I was brought up in a Christian way. Every Sunday I go to a different church in any part of the country. Yesterday (Saturday), my father asked me where I was going and I informed him about Meru and he told me that he has friends here. He told me that the friends have children and grandchildren. You never know about tomorrow,” he said.
At the function, Moi who has repeatedly hinted at vying for the presidency in the 2022 general elections noted that he is not in a hurry to launch his bid.
He added that he would rather wait for the right time and use the current time to back President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga on their post-handshake joint moves.
He also expressed his full support for Uhuru's Big 4 agenda, noting that it has a great potential, especially the heath part of it.
“Health is a big issue and we are being called for harambees to raise funds for people who are sick. The universal healthcare will solve that problem. Our role is to help the President deliver on the Big Four agenda. The President and (ODM leader) Raila Odinga have the interest of the people at heart," he added.
Leaders who accompanied him included MPs Mercy Gakuya (Kasaranj), Maina Kamanda (nominated), William Kamket (Tiaty) and Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay Woman Rep).
