Malava Boys proved too good to handle after edging out debutants Kapkenyeloi in three straight sets to retain the national volleyball title as National Secondary school games came to a close at Hill School in Eldoret on Saturday.
Coming into the finals having won all their matches, the game was billed as mouth-watering though Malava were the clear favourites.
The Rift Valley champions who came in after former champions Cheptil were banned for fielding ineligible players did not pose any threat to national champions though they had to work extra hard to edge out a 25-23, 25-21, 25-19 win.
In the girl’s category, the National and East African Champions Kathanze retained their national title after edging out Soweto 3-0.
Laiser Hill won the Rugby 7’s title after beating Malava Boys in the final held at the Eldoret sports club.
Finalists in the boy’s category will be representing the country in the East and Central African secondary school games while finalists and the first runners-up in the girls’ category will represent the country in the regional games slated later in August in Rwanda.
