Residents of Sironga area, Nyamira County were on Monday morning treated to a shocking incident after a middle-aged man travelling from Nyamira to Kisii died onboard a matatu.
The incident left passengers onboard in shock when the conductor realised the man was dead when collecting fare.
The man who was later on identified as Elijah Okinyi is said to have boarded the matatu at Nyamira town stage and he looked jovial only to fall as sleep at Konate stage.
“I saw him when he entered in the Nissan and he was jovial but when we arrived somewhere in Konate, he slept and I thought it was normal until the time I was collecting fare when those seated next to him realised he was no more,” said Edwin Ongoro the conductor of the matatu.
Confirming the incident, Nyamira County Traffic Commander Osman Said, opined that the man has been they are getting in touch with the family.
“As we speak, his body has been rushed to Nyamira County Referral Hospital for further examination and we hope we will release more information to the press,” said Osman
