Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has in a turn of events dropped his initial stand against the proposed constitutional changes.

Speaking from his home on Monday, the Senator said that that the looming referendum is necessary and is actually on its way to be addressed soon.

He hit out at quarters opposed to the same, at a time when Deputy President William Ruto seems to have taken the front line in fighting the push.

According to the Ford Kenya party leader, the changes seeking to among others expand the executive to accommodate more leaders are inevitable and unstoppable.

“Those people who are crying foul about having the office of a Prime Minister, or a Deputy Prime Minister are people who are just whistling in the dark.

This is inevitable, it is coming and and it will happen,” he told the Citizen Digital.

He said that Kenya badly needs back the abolished parliamentary governance system to eliminate the current restrictive system which has been blamed for excluding election losers.

“This country must go back to a parliamentary system or a mixed system where we do not have this ‘winner takes it all’ restrictive structure that has nearly torn our country apart," he added.

However, the change of hearts comes barely 2 months after he rubbished the push spearheaded by opposition leader Raila Odinga and his brigade.

He was speaking at Butonge High School and Teremi Primary Schools in Bungoma on October 13, when he joined a section of Western Kenya in poking holes into it.

Wetangula termed it a scheme by a few politicians to resurrect themselves after a long period of losing, a shot indirectly aimed at the former Premier whose 4 presidential bids have been futile.
