A Labour and Industrial Relations court has yet again suspended another appointment of a former legislator to a state parastatal, Thursday.
The Labour court suspended appointment of ex-Mathira Member of Parliament Peter Weru as chairman of Tana Water Works Development Agency.
Mr Weru had been appointed by the Water Cabinet Secretary Mr Simon Chelugui to serve for a period of three years in charge of the agency.
The suspension comes amid growing frustrations that President Uhuru Kenyatta's government has been discriminating youths in appointments to state jobs.
Last week, the appointment of former Othaya MP Mary Wambui to Employment Authority met the wrath of the people especially on social media.
Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja moved to court to challenge qualifications of Wambui, leading to suspension of the appointment.
"The directive of appointing the 3rd respondent, who is not qualified is not only retrogressive, arbitrary and stale, but also attempts to uncharacteristically undermine the principles of public participation and guiding principles of leadership and integrity,” the petition read.
In a previous statement, President Uhuru Kenyatta defended his preference for old people, arguing that they are transparent and credible.
