Each new year comes with new resolutions. For some, it is a chance to get better by trying out the things they never did or doing what they used to do in a better way. For others, it is a life-changing moment where they come up with new rules and principles that will guide them throughout their lives.
Speaking to some of the ladies at Moi University concerning their new year resolutions in terms of relationships, it was evident that sex was definitely not on their priority list in 2019.
"Most of the guys on campus are only interested in sleeping with a lady and not loving her. As such, a lady wastes her time on a toxic relationship only to end up heartbroken. That was one mistake I made last year and I'm not planning to go down the same path again. So this year sex is not on my to-do list, I want to focus more on my studies and making myself successful," Vivian Naliaka, a third-year student in the School of Education stated.
For the fourth year students who will be coming to finalize their four years on campus, it is time to mature up and prepare for the outside life. Part of that means cutting out on sexual relationships.
"This is going to be our last semester. There is actually no time to go sleeping around with the guys on campus whom you will not be seeing after 3 months. Plus I am growing old and what I need now is to settle down with someone mature for a serious relationship. So there is no way I will waste my precious time getting laid by people whom we will break up in 3 months time. I am not ready to be used," Carolyne Wanjiku, a fourth-year student noted.
For others, it is a matter of having self-respect as a lady.
"Most women lose their respect because of sleeping around with a lot of men. So for the year 2019, I want to earn respect for myself especially now that I'll be contesting to be a student leader in the upcoming election. So sleeping around with a man is something that I'm definitely not going to do anytime soon. Furthermore, such an act might cost me my reputation," Diana Chelimo, a third-year student in the school of Arts commented.
Most people tend to lose focus while in pursuit for their resolutions. Therefore, only time will tell whether or not the ladies will remain true to their resolutions.
