National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale said he only fears four people in the country as he threatened to name powerful individuals opposing the Mau Forest evictions.
Mr Duale said he only fears his wife, President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The Garissa Township MP threatened to expose politicians and senior officials who illegally acquired land in Mau Forest.
He said he would not be intimidated into silence by individual’s hell bent on flattening hectares of the forested water catchment areas.
“I won’t be intimidated into silence Madam Speaker. If anything, the only people who can intimidate me, besides my wife and children, are President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga,” said Mr Duale.
The majority leader made the remarks while making his submission on a parliamentary report tabled before the House on the Mau evictions.
About 7700 people have been evicted from 4,500 hectares of the forest land in the first phase and the government has reiterated that the second phase which involves about 40,000 people is set to kick off soon.
A section of leaders are urging the government to proceed with the evictions to rid the Mau forest of human settlements while other leaders oppose the planned eviction saying the government should have devised a resettlement plan before evicting Mau residents.
