Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has hinted on contesting for a top seat in 2022.
Speaking in Garissa Town on Saturday, Duale said that a section of residents is piling pressure on him to vie for a bigger position in the 2022 general election.
Duale said that he is focused on serving Garissa residents and will give their request a thought.
"I am under pressure to contest for a bigger seat in 2022 but for now my focus is on serving the people of Garissa as their MP, " he said.
Duale said that he will not mind contesting for a bigger seat so long as the people are behind him.
He, however, said that it is too early to debate 2022 general election, adding that leaders should focus on service delivery.
Duale's popularity and influence are steadily rising.
He is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto.
The Garissa Township MP is said to be the 'engine' that could catapult Ruto to the presidency in 2022.
A section of Garissa politicians has been asking DP Ruto to pick Duale as his running mate in 2022.
The politicians argue that Duale qualifies to be DP Ruto's running mate in the much anticipated 2022 polls.
There are speculations that Duale could contest for the Garissa governor seat in 2022.
