Kangundo Youth Leader Shah Kioko on Saturday told this writer that there are many qualified youths who have no jobs.

He said that instead of these chances being given to people with permanent jobs or a source of income, unemployed youths should be considered.

"Census recruitment is here and unemployment is a matter of concern to everyone. I would love to urge the government to put in consideration unemployed youths who will apply for the jobs, there are many who are qualified," said Kioko.

"There is no point of recruiting a deputy principal who is earning close to Sh90,000 yet there is a fresh graduate - more IT Savvy - but with no job experience yet he can deliver on the census jobs Or TSC teacher with permanent job at least earning yet there is a fresh graduate teacher wallowing in poverty," he added.

Mr Kioko urged those in active employment to stop applying for the oncoming census exercise which is scheduled for August.

"You know of a jobless guy you pass every morning while heading to work who may need this chance. I would urge those in permanent jobs to give chance to our youths who have been tarmacking for years to earn something," he said.
