Some of the artists have been involved in numerous scandals, from stealing songs, collaborating with secular artists to sex scandals.

It is quite unfortunate that a majority are youthful artists who should be an inspiration and role model to Kenyan youths and other upcoming Gospel musicians.

Here is a list of some of the controversial Gospel artists;

1. Willy Paul

He is arguably the most controversial Kenyan gospel artist. Willy Paul has been involved in numerous scandals as he has severally been accused by artists such as Freelancers 254, Bahati, Kizo B and Mr Blue of stealing songs. He is also known for collaborating with secular artists. One of the songs that raised eyebrows was his collaboration with Cecile called Sikireti. The song actually had more dislikes on youtube compared to likes.

2. Bahati

He has for a long time had a feud with Willy Paul. Recently, several of his workers and artists under EMB Records quit citing frustration and arrogance from Bahati. He was also recently accused of refusing to pay Mr Seed who introduced him to the music industry. A section of fans has also openly castigated Bahati for marrying Diana Marua who is way older than him. He has a kid from his previous relationship with Yvette.

Ringtone is one of the most successful and richest musicians in Kenya. His name is not new to the controversies surrounding the gospel industry. He has of late been castigating Willy Paul for joking with the church and claimed that he is an agent of the devil. He once became an internet sensation after publicly declaring his love Zari, Diamond's former lover. He even bought a Range Rover and customized it with Zari's name as a present for her when she visited Kenya. Unfortunately, Zari rejected his offer.
