Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and County Assembly Speaker George Ndotto have met again in different positions after many years of political rivalry. The two leaders are expected to cast a shadow at their past to serve the people of this county in next five years of their governance.
Ngilu has been a thorn in the flesh of Ndotto, who sought to dethrone her as MP for Kitui Central Constituency. Ndotto attempted to smoke Ngilu from power for over 20 years, but his efforts did not bear fruits.
Ndotto, who once served as a cabinet minister in President Daniel Moi’s government, has worked in different parts of the nation in various capacities. He once worked in Nairobi’s Pumwani and Muranga before he was appointed the head of the government medical supplies unit.
The speaker contested against in 1992, 1997, 2002 and 2007 but he opted to give up after losing all the contests to the iron lady. Speaking after he was elected speaker, Ndotto pledged to serve his people without fear or favor.
“I am grateful to the members of county assembly and promise to serve all without favour or bias and for the greater good of Kitui County,” the veteran politician said, as quoted by Nation.
