On Friday, he was conspicuously missing in a meeting held at Governor James Ongwae's Kisii home in which leaders turned in numbers to put forth the agenda ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta's tour.

"The deputy governor should come out and speak. Two months without addressing issues affecting our county is something that should worry us. We need to know his whereabouts," said seasoned politician Nyambega Mose.

Mr Nyaribo, who is also serving his second term, is credited for streamlining operations in the county after ordering sacking of several workers on grounds that they were irregularly appointed.

But one of his aide now says the DG has fully recuperated and he will reportedly return to duty next week, two months after his prolonged absence.

"The deputy governor has fully recovered. He will return next week in style," said Robert Tai, even though he failed to State the exact date Mr Nyaribo is expected back to office.

At India, Nyaribo underwent major kidney surgery which kept him off the burial of his brother, Robert Nyaribo, who was buried in November last year.

Upon his return next week, Nyaribo, whose last public appearance was in August last year, would be met with a county that is struggling with exponential wage bill, nepotism among other vices.
