Though he is still better placed compared to a majority of Kenyans, Dennis Itumbi is a man who has fallen from the centre of power and now enjoys crumbs from under the table.
Whether the blogger-cum-power broker and back to blogger, accepts his downfall or wears a brave face, it is all written that he is no longer President Uhuru Kenyatta’s golden boy as he used to be.
As we go to press, the diploma holder from Kenya Institute of Mass Communication has revised his Twitter bio “Director, Digital Innovations & Diaspora Communication State House” to “Kenyan Journalist, Digital Strategist & Blogger – Currently Secretary Digital. Innovations&Diaspora Comms.”
Sources at State House said Itumbi and his company had been warned that the time for politics is over and all staff should focus on Uhuru’s Big Four Agenda but failed to observe the new orders.
This forced Uhuru’s men to reorganize his communication team where the axe fell on people like Itumbi and Manoah Esipisu, former statehouse spokesperson.
“They are seen as attached into politics. That is why they have been sent where politics is – Harambee Annex,” a source said.
Four other top communication gurus; directors Munyori Buku (public communications), Eric Ng’eno (messaging), James Kinyua (branding and events) and Munira Mohammed have also been sent ‘where politics is’.
Harambee Annex is the office of the Deputy President William Ruto.
