Director of Criminal Investigations detectives have arrested three suspects in connection to killings in Western Kenya. The three were nabbed at different locations on Tuesday after the brutal murder of six watchmen on May 3, 2019
According to DCI statement, their intelligence operation kicked off at Mukuru kwa Reuben and made leads to Vihiga and Kakamega.
Further investigation on the shocking murders and robberies in the Western region directed detectives to the same area leading to arrest of the suspects.
"Detailed analyses on the western region Murders and Robberies led the detectives to the said Mukuru kwa Reuben where a 28-year-old Fanuel Andayi was arrested, and a mobile phone, robbed on the night the watchmen were killed was recovered and it further led sleuths to Butere where a second suspect- 28-year-old Aziz Amwayi Akoko was also nabbed," Read part of DCI statement on their official Facebook page
Furthermore, DCI revealed Aziz Amwayi Akoko had earlier been arrested by local police over murders but gain freedom through a bond. Serious search on the suspects' residence resulted in the confiscation of gadgets like mobile phones and a laptop.
"A third suspect; 26-year-old Caleb Nanjira Alumbe was arrested in connection with the robbed and recovered phones, with the detectives having reasons to believe that he was at the Crime Scene on the night when he said six watchmen were murdered," DCI added
The suspects are in custody awaiting further actions
