Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati has been given more assignments, which will see him coordinating African polls.
On Thursday, Chebukati was appointed the president of Assembly of Association of African Election Authorities (AAEA).
The organization among others, oversees administration of credible elections in the African continent by promoting professionalism.
Chebukati will pick over from Professor Kalisa Mbanda, the chairperson of the National Electoral Commission of Rwanda whose term has come to an end.
His appointment was announced during the 6th Annual Continental Forum of Election Management Bodies that was held in Nairobi.
"As IEBC, we are honoured to host this meeting that brings together chairpersons of various election management bodies (EMB) across the continent, representatives of the African Union, stakeholders and partners in the electoral process," Chebukati said during the conference.
Kenya, Benin, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Gabon, Gambia and Ghana are among the member countries.
Others are Guinea, Lesotho, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
The organization usually deploys observers across the continent during polls, who monitors the processes before making recommendations.
Mr Chebukati is currently facing uncertainty in the country following recommendations by Building Bridges Initiative to have IEBC disbanded before 2022 polls.
Currently, it's only Chebukati, Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye who are serving as Commissioners.
Four other individuals resigned from the Commission.
